Today, I am the proud recipient of the Sunshine Award. This award is sort of like the SAG Awards, but for bloggers. Basically, bloggers nominate other deserving bloggers, as sort of a pat on the back.
I would like to thank Lolo for this award and return her well wishes and accolades by inviting you all to check out the fabulousness that is her site, Ranting on the Lolo. In all walks and phases of life, it is an amazing feeling to be recognized by your peers and encouraged to continue the good fight, so for this Lolo, I salute you.
Furthermore, since I don’t usually reveal many personal things about myself, this will likely be one of my most revealing posts yet, in keeping with what is expected of me as a recipient of this highly coveted award. So, if you have always had a deep desire to get to know me better, here’s your chance.
Here are the rules for the award:
- Include the award’s logo in a post or on your blog.
- Answer 10 questions about yourself.
- Nominate other fabulous bloggers.
- Link your nominees to this post and comment on their blogs, letting them know they have been nominated.
- Share the love and link the person who nominated you.
What is a favorite childhood memory? — One of my favorite childhood memories is my dad playing “Incredible Hulk” (old school TV show starring Lou Ferrigno) with me and my brothers. We would run and hide and the “the Hulk” (aka my dad) would come searching for us. When he’d find me, I would actually be terrified. My dad was so big and strong, and had a naturally muscular physique. This fond memory reflects the image I had of him in my younger years.
What is a real fear you have? I possess some common fears such as acrophobia (fear of heights) and a fear of roaches and other bugs. But, since I love to get deep, a more revealing fear that I have is of complacency – losing that hunger that drives me to accomplish my dreams and conquer my fears.
How would you describe yourself? Ironically, yesterday I took a personality quiz supposedly created by Dr. Phil. I felt that what my results revealed was quite accurate. This is what it said:
Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful and practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who’s extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expects the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.
What Countries have you lived in? United States of America
What is your style? Either I’m wearing something ultra-feminine and frilly or I’m wearing something a little risque or edgy, never both at the same time. Most times, however, comfort is key, so I always dress appropriate to my environment, the occasion and the weather. If I could raid any celebrity’s closet, I’d head straight to Rihanna’s house.
What is your favorite breakfast food? Omelettes (singing…”I love eggs” – for my less-than-30 somethings, this was a commercial jingle back in the day)
What are some of your hobbies? Reading, writing, blogging (most bloggers will probably have these first 3 hobbies in common), modeling, dreaming
If you could tell people anything, what would be the most important thing to say? Everyone is not going to like you. Never let someone’s actions, feelings towards you or words change who you are (unless you’re crazy). Be yourself unapologetically.
What is one of your passions? Editing. There’s nothing I love more than turning words into art.
What is the one truth you have learned? Laughter is truly the BEST medicine.
I’m sure it is a cardinal blogging sin for a blogger not to be an avid reader of tons of other blogs. However, this is the case for me, and the blogs that I do read have already received the Sunshine Award from others. So, instead of nominating other bloggers for this lovely award, I would like to give a little piece of Sunshine to these particular bloggers who have successfully taken blogging to the next level, and inspired me to do the same: brooklynavenuejournal, singleblackmale, and untiligetmarried.
